This announcement is for all of our 8th Grade families! Tomorrow our 8th Grade students will be taking a tour of MCHS with their teachers. Buses will leave MCCS at 8:30 and return at 12:15.

Next week is Read Across America Week. Celebrate with us by dressing up each day and reading your favorite books!

Transportation Changes for Friday February 20th (morning routes only)

Students who normally ride bus #45 will be picked up by Bus #31 (EXCEPT for Quail Hallow). This route will start by 7:45 a.m.

Students who live in Quail Hallow will be picked up by Bus #140 at 7:20 a.m.

Don't forget to join us tomorrow morning for our K-5th Grade's Black History Month program at 8:30AM in the MCCS Gym!

Transportation update for Tuesday February 17:

Bus #39 will pick up all students at Arbors around 7:40 a.m.

Bus #42 will pick up students that normally ride Bus #33 at the normal time

Bus #42 will pick up Colin Kelly Hwy around 7:40 a.m.

Transportation Delay for Thursday February 12: Bus 42 route: Oak Hill, Belleville, Mt. Horeb Church, Fennel Way, Hickory Grove, Empress Tree Ave. Colin Kelly Hwy, Old Blu Spring Church Td, Davis Trailer Park, Redwood Trl, Daisy St, Daylily Ave, Doubletree Ave, Delphinium, Persimmon, Alyssum Loop, Arbors, Roseapple Way will be delayed this morning. Expect the bus around 745

Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to purchase tickets to the Sneaker Ball Dance! Tickets are $5 and must be pre-purchased. Students must be in 6th-8th grade and cannot have any referrals for the 2nd semester (Jan.7th-Feb. 13th).

Don't forget to also join us tomorrow evening for Tile Painting Family Night! You still have time (until 9AM tomorrow) to pay to paint a ceiling tile to decorate our hallways and classrooms! You can paint a tile as a family or purchase multiple tiles for multiple Broncos!

Update: this event has unfornately been cancelled due to weather. The Book Fair will be open tomorrow evening for families to shop at from 5-7pm.

MCCS was briefly placed on a shelter in place at 12:58pm due to a staff member identifying an unknown person. The person was located and identified as a contracted IT personnel. The shelter in place was then lifted at 1:02pm. As always, the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority.

Dear MCCS Families,
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, MCCS is implementing new weapons-detection technology for all students. Effective immediately, all students entering the building will pass through a safety screening device. This is a proactive measure designed to identify prohibited items before they enter our campus.

What this means for you:
1. Screening: Every student will be screened upon entry.
2. Timing: While we aim to ensure a smooth and efficient process, please anticipate slight delays during morning arrival as students adjust to the new routine.

MCCS has a lot happening these next couple of weeks! This Week: - Tomorrow kicks off our Book Fair - see previous post for eWallet setup and times. - Thursday night is our Tile Painting Family Night- $20 per tile, money is due on the 4th (Pictures of tiles currently displayed at MCCS to come tomorrow). - Carnations are being sold for PBIS - $2 Each. - Candy Grams are being sold for 2 for $1.

For Immediate Release: This morning at approximately 11:20 a.m., a staff member at Madison County Central School discovered what appeared to be a firearm while helping a 5-year-old Pre-K student locate a paper in their backpack. The staff member immediately notified School Resource Deputies, who responded within 1 minute of notification and took possession of the firearm. The Madison County Sheriff's Office investigators are currently on campus at Madison County Central School and are investigating the situation. At no time were students or staff in danger, and the firearm was never displayed or handled by the student. Staff followed proper safety protocols, and law enforcement responded quickly to contain the situation immediately upon discovery. Normal school operations have continued without interruption. This incident serves as an important reminder to all parents and guardians to ensure that firearms and other dangerous items in your home are stored securely and are completely inaccessible to children. Even young children can inadvertently bring dangerous items to school if they are able to access them at home. We appreciate the vigilance of our staff and the swift response of our School Resource Deputies in keeping our school community safe. Parents with questions or concerns should contact school administration or the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

We are excited for our Parent Engagement Night for February! We are having a Tile Painting Family Night next week at MCCS. You will notice the beautiful tiles in our ceiling that have been painted previously and we want to continue that tradition. Please send the form and money back by February 4th.
